Parkdale Mall welcomed people of all ages to make Valentine’s Day cards for nursing home residents in Beaumont from noon until 3 p.m.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Valentine’s day falls on a Friday this year. Have you made your reservations?

Parkdale Mall held their first Spread the Love event partnering with Chick-fil-a and the Great American Cookie Company on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The mall welcomed people of all ages to make Valentine’s Day cards for nursing home residents in Beaumont from noon until 3 p.m.

Dozens of people stopped by the Sunken Court area of the mall to contribute to the cause.

Zemirah Riggs, a 9-year-old attendee sat and enjoyed the activity put on by the mall. She also told 12News why Valentines Day is one of her favorite holidays.

“I like that you can give to people and be thankful, and you get gifts from people. It’s all about love,” Riggs said.

Participants received two Chick-fil-a gift cards, one to keep and another to give away in light of the upcoming holiday.

Everyone who made a card also received a coupon booklet from the Great American Cookie Company.

Representatives of the mall will deliver the cards on Friday, Feb. 14, to select nursing homes.

The mall is hoping to make ‘Spread Your Love’ an annual event as they try to become more engaged in the community.
