LIST: Texas shelters available for evacuees of Hurricane Laura

There are shelters in the state available for evacuees wanting to move out of harm’s way.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Many Southeast Texas officials issued mandatory evacuation orders ahead of Hurricane Laura.

Laura made landfall as a powerful category 4 storm in the early morning hours on Thursday, August 27. Shelters in Texas and Louisiana are available for evacuees, but many are limiting the number of people that can stay due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Here’s a list of shelters in the upper regions of Texas that aren’t expected to be impacted from the storm. This is not an exhaustive list of open shelters.
