$1.8M FEMA grant awarded to rebuild Harvey-damaged West Orange-Stark Middle School

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — A grant of almost $2 million has been awarded to help rebuild West Orange-Stark Middle School following damage to the school following Tropical Storm Harvey in 2017.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced the $1.8 million FEMA grant in a news release on Monday.

The grant is being funded by FEMA through the Robert T. Stafford Act, which grants authority for the federal government to assist in local disaster aid efforts according to the release.

“In the two years since this historic storm made landfall, Texans have come together seeking strength and a return to normalcy,” Sen. Cornyn was quoted as saying in the release.

“These funds will truly make a difference in helping Texas students and teachers get back on their feet, and I applaud the Trump Administration for their continued commitment to our state’s recovery.”

The West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District will receive a $1,823,500.38 federal grant to rebuild West Orange-Stark Middle School after damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced today. 

The funding comes from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Robert T. Stafford Act, which grants authority for the federal government to assist in local disaster aid efforts.

“In the two years since this historic storm made landfall, Texans have come together seeking strength and a return to normalcy,” said Sen. Cornyn. 

“These funds will truly make a difference in helping Texas students and teachers get back on their feet, and I applaud the Trump Administration for their continued commitment to our state’s recovery.”
