BEAUMONT, Texas — A wreck involving a Beaumont school bus and another vehicle sent more than a dozen high school students and a bus driver to the hospital Friday after school.
It happened around 3 p.m. in the 2800 block of North 10th Street and Delaware Street.
A spokesperson with the Beaumont Independent School District said 16 students and a bus driver were on the bus.
"Four students were released to their parents, two students were transported to Baptist Hospital and 11 were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, along with the driver of the bus," the district says.
A source tells 12News high school students from Beaumont United were on the bus.
12News crew at the scene saw EMTs checking to make sure the students involved in the crash were OK.
The roadway is blocked off in both directions as the investigation continues.

Editor's note: The district reached out to 12News to make a revision to the original statement about the incident. There were 16 students on the bus in addition to the bus driver, totaling 17 people.

At approximately 3:36 p.m. on January 21, 2022, a Beaumont ISD school bus was involved in an accident involving one other vehicle. Seventeen students were on the bus and all were assessed by medical personnel. Four students were released to their parents, two students were transported to Baptist Hospital and 11 were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, along with the driver of the bus.
