Hardin County Fire Captain recovering from burn injuries while battling tank complex fire

Captain Chad Pierce was burned and was flown to Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment. His condition is good and expected to make a complete recovery.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — A Hardin County ESD #5 Fire Captain is recovering after he was burned while battling a tank complex fire, according to Hardin County ESD #5 Fire Chief Glenn Withers.

Fire Captain Chad Pierce was injured at an early morning fire while supporting a mutual aid request from Jefferson County ESD #3, according to a Facebook post by Chief Withers.

Captain Pierce received thermal burns from stepping /falling waist deep into a hot oil-water solution while fighting a tank complex fire. 

Captain Pierce was flown to  Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment.

Chief Withers posted his condition is good and expected to make a complete recovery. 

He is an 11 year veteran of HCESD #5 Sour Lake.
