"This is the stuff that gives people nightmares at night and you instigated it," Judge Raquel West told him.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Southeast Texas man was sentenced to 30 years behind bars after pleading guilty to robbing a man in his Port Neches home and leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds in 2021.

Devin Tramon McGhee, 24, of Nederland, was sentenced Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023, to 30 years in a Texas state prison by 252nd District Court Judge Raquel West.

McGhee pleaded guilty in May 2023 to burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault for his part in the robbery that happened in October 2021.

His twin brother, Tevin, was sentenced to life in prison in May 2023 by Judge West after he pleaded guilty to burglary of a habitation with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon according to file stories.

Tevin McGhee told officers at the scene of the shooting in 2021 that the gun was his and that he shot the victim several times according to file stories.

"I've watched the video, and you were the one who egged your brother on the entire time," she told him sternly.

West admonished him further saying, "I'm not even sure that your brother would have done what he did had you not been there just in his face (saying) 'do it! do it! do it!'."

Before pronouncing his sentence West did not let McGhee off the hook.

"This is the stuff out of a movie. This is the stuff that gives people nightmares at night, and you instigated it," Judge West told him.

West then sentenced him to 30 years in prison.

The victim's wife addressed McGhee Tuesday during the sentencing hearing telling him "you and your brother tried to kill my husband, Jason. You and your brother tried to kill our little dog as you entered our house."

She then went on to say, "I will never forget the visual of seeing my love, my soul mate, my husband, the father of my children, slumped down in a bathtub filled with blood!"

On the night of the shooting a caller told a Port Neches Police dispatcher that they saw two men on the porch of the home with guns.

The caller then told the dispatcher they saw the men force their way into the home and then they could her gunshots.

When officers got to the home they found the twin brothers exiting the home with a gun and arrested them.
