New Orange County Judge sworn in

ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — A new Orange County Judge was sworn in on Friday.. 

John Gothia became the new Orange County Judge at noon on Friday, July 19 at the Orange County Commissioners Court. He resigned from being county commissioner to take the judge position. 

The Orange County Commissioners Court planned to appoint a judge until December 31, 2020, since the next judge elected will take office on January 1, 2020.

Former Orange County Judge Carl Thibodeaux resigned about a week ago. Judge Dean Crooks resigned in March, less than a year into his first term. County commissioners then named former Judge Carl Thibodeaux as an interim the seat.
