Junior League of Beaumont hold ribbon cutting ceremony for renovated Witness Rooms

The Junior League Provisional Class said that they understand the stress and anxiety witnesses often feel while waiting to testify.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Junior League of Beaumont held the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Witness Rooms at Jefferson county courthouse Wednesday afternoon.

After four months of planning and hard work, the Witness Rooms have been completely overhauled to make a more comforting and inviting space for witnesses awaiting testimony.

The renovations to the first room consist of fresh paint, artwork, and new furniture.

In a press release, the Junior League Provisional Class said that they understand the stress and anxiety witnesses often feel while waiting to testify, so they spared no expense ensuring that the rooms provide a relaxing atmosphere.

Special attention was also put into the concept of the children's Witness room, which now boasts an array of new books, movies, and games all available in multiple languages.

The room was curated to provide entertainment and distraction, alleviating apprehension children may feel while waiting to testify.

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Junior League of Beaumont Provisional Class for their dedication and commitment to this project," said District Attorney Keith Giblin. "The renovated Witness Rooms will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the experience of witnesses, ensuring they feel supported and cared for throughout their time at the courthouse."

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the District Attorney's office and was attended by members of the Junior League of Beaumont as well as representatives from the Jefferson County Courthouse.

This event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the courthouse environment and support the well-being of all those involved in the legal process.
