Back to School: Beaumont United, Fehl-Price students return Monday

All BISD campuses are scheduled to resume the school year on Monday as Imelda recovery continues.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont United High School and Fehl-Price Elementary students are going back to school on Monday after missing three weeks of school following Tropical Storm Imelda.

The Beaumont United freshman will resume school at the South Park Middle School campus on Monday. Tenth through twelfth graders will be housed at functional parts of the high school, BISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Allen said.

The relocation means that South Park Middle School students must also change school campuses.

South Park students moved to their new locations on Monday, Oct. 7. Students living north of Lavaca St. have been rezoned to MLK Middle School and those who live south of Lavaca St. were rezoned to Vincent Middle School.

The changes will impact the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.

Dr. Allen said that South Park Middle School will be dissolved after the 2019-2020 school year.

Starting in August, South Park Middle will house students who are duel enrolled at Lamar Institute of Technology. It will be renamed South Park Early College High School.

The Oct. 14 start date will mark a month off from school for the Beaumont United and Fehl-Price students.

Dr. Allen addressed missed work due to the storm at a district parent meeting held on Oct. 1.

"Our curriculum team has been working from the very beginning, when we were out of school, to determine how we were going to make up the time. We have our curriculum supervisors who are revising our curriculum currently. So that we can fill in."

Fehl-Price Elementary School is the other BISD campus to re-open on Oct. 14, 2019.

Fehl-Price was one of the two BISD campuses (United) that sustained the most damage following Tropical Storm Imelda.

Crews have been working to clean up the two BISD campuses.

Dr. Allen says the district will continue to update information online about schedules and bus routes.

Beaumont United full release 10/13/2019:

Good evening Timberwolf family! we are excited to see all of our students and staff back at work tomorrow October 14.

Again, starting time for Beaumont United ninth grade campus is 7:10 AM, and the Beaumont United 10 through 12 grade campus at 7:20 AM.

Students may begin arriving at the Bmt united ninth grade campus as early as 6:30 AM and at the Beaumont united 10 through 12 grade campus at 6:45 AM.

Parents please be aware that there have been some changes with regards to how we drop off and pick up our students.

At Beaumont United 9th grade campus, buses will drop off in the rear of the campus near the cafeteria and all car riders will need to be dropped off in the front of the building in the circular driveway on Highland Avenue. Please do not drop off on Highland Avenue, as this is a hazard for our students.

Beaumont United 10 through 12 grade campus bus riders will be dropped off in the front of A building near Fannett Road and our car riders will need to enter the parking lot near Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church and drive the path that leads in front of the field house and main gym, as this is where all car riders will need to be dropped off. Parents will then need to exit out of the parking lot toward Sarah Street.

Please be mindful that we are expecting rainy weather Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, so please dress accordingly.

Also, with regards to dress, dress code will be enforced.

Additionally, those students who ride the bus are reminded that they are to report to their bus stop 15 mins early beginning tomorrow.

We can’t wait to see our Timberwolves on tomorrow. Please enjoy your evening.
