BEAUMONT, Texas — Students at Charlton-Pollard Elementary are being dismissed early due to an 18-inch water main break on Sabine Pass Ave. at Harriot St. The school is currently without water.

Earlier, it was stated that other students were being transferred to the nearby campus, Pietzsch-MacArthur by bus where parents can pick them up. Due to the few amount of students remaining, they will not be transferred to Pietzsch-MacArthur.

They will remain at Charlton-Pollard, according to Beaumont Independent School District spokesperson Jackie Simien.

An 18-inch water line near the intersection of Sabine Pass Ave. at Harriott St. broke just before noon today.

The water line break was due to a contractor accidentally drilling into the line, according to the City of Beaumont.

This caused Charlton-Pollard Elementary to have no water and caused low water for homes located in Beaumont's south end.

As of now, there is no boil water notice in effect, according to City of Beaumont spokesperson Tracy Kennick. Crews were able to prevent the pressure from dropping too low.
