Around 10 a.m. on Sunday, November, 26, 2023 deputies went to a home on the 4400 block of Wood Duck Lane in Cove in reference to a deceased person.

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — A Chambers County man is facing a manslaughter charge after authorities say he shot and killed a person on Wood Duck Lane in Cove.

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne says around 10 a.m. on Sunday, November, 26, 2023 deputies went to a home on the 4400 block of Wood Duck Lane in Cove in reference to a deceased person.

When deputies arrived to the home, they suspected foul play and called Sheriff’s Office Detectives to the location, according to a post on the Chamber's County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

During the initial investigation, detectives determined the suspect, Devin Stanley, had shot and killed a person.

Detectives conducted interviews with the suspect and witnesses, which concluded Stanley had recklessly shot and killed the victim.

Stanley was arrested for Manslaughter and booked into the Chambers County Jail without incident.

Chambers County Justice of the Peace Precinct #6, Larry Cryer, ordered an autopsy.

This case remains active and upgraded charges are possible pending further investigation.
