Silsbee police arrest man for stealing 10 guns, jewelry, ammo, cash from pawn shop

Police Identified 20-year-old Curtis Douglas Sanders of Buna and found him in possession of stolen goods.

SILSBEE — Silbee police identified and arrested Curtis Douglas Sanders, 20 of Buna for burglary of a business and he was booked into the Hardin County jail after being identified on tape stealing 10 semi-automatic handguns, five gold necklaces, two boxes of ammunition and an unknown amount of cash on R & W Pawn Shop's security camera.

On Friday, March 30th around 9:00 a.m., SPD Officers responded to a burglary of a business at R & W Pawn Shop in the 900 block of N 5th Street. When officers arrived they met with the store owner and learned that there was a broken window to gain entry to the business and upon investigating further determined the pawn shop had in fact been burglarized.

Store video captured the image of a white male inside the business taking various items including, 10-semi automatic handguns, 6-Knives, 5-gold necklaces, 2-boxes of ammunition and an undetermined amount of cash.

With a still picture of the suspect in hand SPD officers quickly patrolled the area speaking with citizens attempting to identify the suspect. With the help of a citizen SPD officers were given a possible name of a white male who looked similar to the photograph.

On Saturday, March 31st, around 2:57 a.m., while in the area of MLK and 10th Street, SPD Officer Green noticed a white male fitting the description of the suspect in the photograph. Officer Green stopped to identify the man and upon further interviewing and investigation found the subject in possession of several items identified as stolen from the pawn shop.

The suspect was identified as Curtis Douglas Sanders, white/male, 20 years of age of Buna, Texas. Sanders was arrested and charged with burglary of a business and booked into the Hardin County jail. Sanders is currently on probation in Jasper County for burglary.

There are two additional person's of interest possibly connected to this case. SPD is following leads to identify and locate both subjects.
