PORT ARTHUR — “The man had a lot of blood on his body,” Louis Freeman said.
Freeman said he heard five gunshots across the street from his residence at the Prince Hall apartments.
The shooting occurred outside a home on West 14th Street around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Freeman says two suspects left the scene after shooting a man who was inside his car.
"I saw a white Ford truck pull up and went on the side of the car you see. A person got out of the truck, stepped out and just shot him," Freeman said.
Port Arthur Police did not confirm if that’s exactly what happened, but they say a white Ford truck is a vehicle of interest in the investigation.
Police say the shooting victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont before he was flown to a Houston hospital.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Freeman hopes that violence in his hometown comes to a stop.
"It's just worse, I don't like when people get hurt like that," Freeman said.
The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. Police do not have a suspect in custody.
