5-year-old Louisiana girl dies after crash at RV park in Bridge City, DPS investigating

The crash happened in the 800 block of LaPointe Street in Bridge City shortly before 5 p.m.

BRIDGE CITY, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 5-year-old Louisiana girl on Sunday.

Rilee McGraw, 5, of Deville, La., was riding a small battery powered dirt bike when she traveled into the path of a pickup truck and was struck, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release. She was taken to CHRISTUS ST. Elizabeth for treatment but was later pronounced dead. 

The crash happened at an RV park in the 800 block of LaPointe Street in Bridge City shortly before 5 p.m. Lt. Chuck Havard told 12News

Troopers say a 31-year-old Georgia man was leaving the RV park driving a 2015 GMC pickup truck traveling on the paved portion of the road when McGraw rode into his path.

Currently troopers have not mentioned filing any charges in the case.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred inside the Town & Country RV Park, located at 862 Lapointe Street, inside Bridge City, that occurred yesterday, June 5, 2022. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 4:57 p.m., a 2015 GMC pickup was traveling on the paved portion of the road and leaving the RV park when it struck a small battery powered dirt bike that traveled into its path. 

The driver of the bike, identified as 5-year-old Rilee McGraw of Deville, La., was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. 

This investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
