JASPER, Texas — An alert issued by the Texas Department of Transportation warns drivers that US 190 will be shut down at Steinhagen Lake (Neches River) for a while.
TxDOT's alert says the road is 'currently being closed due to damage and will be closed for a number of weeks until repairs can be completed.'
Traffic is being detoured to RE 255.
Sarah Dupre, a TxDOT representative, said the damage to highway 190 is at the truss section of the bridge, which has been caused by a vehicle. Crews spotted it over the weekend during a routine inspection, she said.
Dupre said the cost is estimated to be approximately $250,000.
