BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont Renegades have locked up their head coach for their inaugural season in American Indoor Football.

In a press release, the Renegades announced that they are hiring former Texan's wideout and return man, Jacoby Jones, as both head coach and offensive coordinator.

Jones had a long and successful NFL career after being drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Houston Texans where he primarily handled punt and kick returns.

In that aspect of the game he was a dynamo, returning a total of four punts/ kicks for touchdowns in his 75 games with the Texans.

After being released by Houston, Jones took his talents to Baltimore where he was an integral part of the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Championship team.

During the Super Bowl Jones played lights out (literally), as his record-breaking 108 yard kick return against the San Francisco 49er's, was immediately followed by a complete power outage at the Superdome.

With all his success and Super Bowl resume, Jones brings a type of leadership and experience that is hard to come by.

“I appreciate the opportunity and the trust in me from the owners,” Jones said. “I’m excited about showing the fans in Beaumont a whole different kind of fun in football. We want the fans to have fun and I am going to make sure I do everything I can as head coach and offensive coordinator to make that happen.”

However, Jones is not the only one in the Renegades organization with a Super Bowl pedigree.

Former Super Bowl champion, Deatrich Wise, is one of three owners of the team and he has expressed his full confidence in Jones.

“During his playing career, Jacoby lit the field on fire with his breathtaking kick returns in big moments,” said Wise. “As a coach, he’ll no doubt bring that same level of excitement to Beaumont and help our players try and do the same.”

As an expansion team, the Renegades are showing that they are looking to make waves early in AIF with this hiring, and hope that Jones can bring his winning ways to Beaumont.
