BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont police are investigating an early morning fatal wreck that left one woman dead and another in the hospital.
The accident happened when two cars collided around 3:15 a.m. Saturday, April 11 in the 2600 block of I-10 east in front of Merit Inn, Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow said in a news release.
Breanna Wright, 27, of Beaumont, was driving a Nissan. She was heading east in the westbound lane on the highway when she hit with another woman's silver Subaru SUV, police said.
The woman driving the Subaru was taken to a local hospital with major injuries to her right leg, Morrow said.
Wright was unresponsive when officers arrived. She was later pronounced dead by Beaumont EMS.

On Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 3:17 a.m. Beaumont Police responded to the area of IH-10 and College Street in reference to a silver Nissan traveling the wrong way on the interstate.
A short time later dispatch received a call of a major crash in the 2600 block of IH-10 E in front of the Merit Inn, involving the Nissan and a silver Subaru SUV.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Nissan was traveling Eastbound in the Westbound lanes of IH-10 E, when it collided with the Subaru. When officers arrived, the driver of the Nissan was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by Beaumont EMS.
The driver of the Subaru was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The deceased victim has been identified as 27 year old Breanna Wright of Beaumont.
