UPDATE: Man dead, 70-year-old girlfriend in custody following Beaumont shooting

New details released in Beaumont shooting on Eastex Freeway.

A Beaumont shooting victim has died of his injuries.

Beaumont Police say the man's 70-year-old girlfriend shot him in the chest in a vehicle on Eastex Freeway near the 69 on ramp, then pushed the victim out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition but later died of his injuries.

The woman has been taken into custody. No names or charges have been released.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: Elizabeth Ann Taylor, 70, of Lumberton was booked into the Jefferson County jail for murder last night.
Police said she shot Larry Wayne Atwood, 58, from Vidor.

Police believe they had a common law marriage...They are trying to figure out the motive and what problems they two having.

After the shooting, She fled to Lumberton where Hardin County deputies found her...Deputies seized a firearm from her vehicle and transported her back to BPD.

Atwood was shot multiple times in the chest area

Hardin County deputies located Taylor at 7:06 p.m. on the 2600 block of Big Buck Drive off FM 1421, near Sour Lake.

Deputies said she was staying with other family members. They received a call from someone that she was going to the location.

Deputies said she was cooperative.

BPD met the deputies at the scene and drove her brought her to Jefferson County Jail
