New temporary hours have been announced for the driver's license office in Port Arthur.

Beginning Tuesday February 20, 2018, the Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License Office in Port Arthur will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays according to a release from DPS.

The office, which will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch, is located at 900 4th Street in Port Arthur according to the release.

From the Texas Department of Public Safety...

Due to staff turnover at the Port Arthur Driver License Office, the department will adjust resources at nearby offices to operate the Port Arthur office at reduced capacity to continue services to the community.

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 20, the office will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an hour closure for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. (Please note that all driver license offices in the state will be closed Monday in observance of Presidents Day.)

Once replacement permanent staff are hired and/or trained in the coming months, we anticipate the office will resume normal operations.

To find a convenient alternative location during this time period, including the Orange and Beaumont driver license offices, customers can search driver license office locations and hours online.

Many Texans are eligible to skip the trip to a driver license office altogether and instead take advantage of online services for driver license/ID card renewals, duplicates or address changes by visiting Texas.gov.

Customers can also renew by phone at 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same.

The fee is the same for online, in-person and telephone renewals.

Important reminder: Customers may renew their Driver License/Texas ID card one year early prior to their expiration date, which allows them to choose a convenient time that fits their schedule.
