Deputies believe 12-year-old accidentally shot to death with hunting rifle

Upon arrival the boy was found unresponsive on the porch and later it was learned he had been shot to death.

The Kountze community is heartbroken as they begin to cope with the tragic accidental shooting death of 12-year-old Trintin Glenn.

Hardin County sheriff deputies believe Glenn was accidentally shot when he was playing with a hunting rifle with another juvenile.

Classmates and teachers at Kountze Intermediate School were emotional as they remembered the 6th grader.

Several of his classmates covered his locker and desk with thoughtful notes and pictures.

"The kiddos want to remember him for the smile that he had, how he was on the playground,” said Kountze ISD superintendent John Ferguson.

Ferguson said Glenn was active in sports as well as the UIL math team.

Trintin Glenn is also fondly known as the door greeter at Cornerstone Baptist Church for Sunday morning services.

"He was hanging out singing they talked about him singing in their during their kid’s worship time, that he loved to sing and always had a smile,” said Pastor Rusty Mott.

The community is trying to stay strong and lean on each other for support.

"God loves everybody and wants us to share that with everyone we can so while god gave him to us we tried to love him well while he was here and pray we did,” said Pastor Mott.

Kountze ISD lost a 6th grade student due to a horrific accident the evening hours of 8 Nov 2017.

Trintin Glenn was a student at Kountze Intermediate School. He was very well liked and enjoyed by his teachers and fellow students.

Trintin attended Kountze Schools since kindergarten. He actively participated in the youth football league, little dribblers, little league baseball, and academic math with the University Interscholastic League.

His vibrant personality made him a joy to be around. He was an avid skateboard and bicycle enthusiast.

Additionally, he attended Cornerstone Baptist Church where his infectious smile was greeted at the door.

What we will do for Trintin now is remember him with love. We will see him, not in person, but in our minds and memories on the playground where he ran and played and laughed with others; we will see him in our minds and hearts in the halls and classrooms where he learned and grew and was such an important part of us.

We will keep that memory of Trintin alive in our hearts and minds; we will keep our love of him ever fresh, ever new; we will continue to see him with the eyes of memory, and we will cherish that memory as something very special—something very special indeed.
