Louisiana man dies in wreck at new Chevron Phillips facility construction site in Orange County

The 58-year-old Louisiana man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

ORANGE, Texas — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Wednesday death of a Louisiana man at the construction site of a new Chevron Phillips facility.

Clarence John Dupre, 57, of Eunice, Louisiana, died in an accident involving a pick-up truck according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

It is unclear how the wreck happened or if Dupre had a medical condition that led to the wreck according to Collins who has ordered an autopsy.

Dupre's death involved a motor vehicle in the 1000 block of Highway 87 in Orange.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, according to Captain Joey Jacobs with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
