Nederland Police searching for suspect in death of 34-year-old man shot in back

Witnesses told investigators three men had an argument at the complex with another man, and at least one gunshot followed.

NEDERLAND, Texas — Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter confirmed to 12News one person is dead following a shooting at a Nederland apartment complex. 

When officers arrived they found the body of Joshua Caleb Miller, 34, with a gunshot wound to his back according to Porter.

Police are searching for Jonathan Loya, 20, in connection to the crime.

A Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson told 12News Wednesday that officers and deptuties are looking for a maroon 2003 Dodge truck with Texas plate number LST5615.

Police were called to Briarcliff Apartments in the 1300 block of North Twin City Highway in Nederland on Wednesday afternoon. 

Witnesses told investigators three men had an argument at the complex with another man, and at least one gunshot followed according to Chief Porter. 

Witnesses told police two of the men left on foot, and one man left in a truck.
