Drowning victim identified as Jasper County woman

The wife of a well-known Jasper County game warden drowned Monday after the lawnmower she was riding went into the Angelina River.

The wife of a well-known Jasper County game warden drowned Monday after the lawnmower she was riding went into the Angelina River.

Sheriff Mitchell Newman told 12News Stephanie Eddins, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Judge Brett Holliway.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. behind the couple’s home off of County Road 32. Her husband, Game Warden Justin Eddins, found her in the river shortly after she fell into the water. He started CPR and first responders took over when they arrived, but they were not successful in reviving her.
