Delayed, missing mail draws complaint from Port Arthur resident

Some residents across Southeast Texas have some major complaints about delayed or even missing mail.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — If you've ever had to deal with not receiving your mail you know it can be frustrating.

Some residents across Southeast Texas have some major complaints about delayed or even missing mail.

Some, like a woman in Port Arthur, say they're missing important documents, like bills.

Several communities have had the same complaints that either they're missing mail, their mail is super delayed, or they have reached out to the Post Office and never received a response.

Brandy Billingsley, of Port Arthur, says she's been missing mail since December.

"It makes me irritated because, what if my bills are late? How am I going to know if I got them," She asks.

Billingsley uses an app from the Post Office that she says shows her when her mail is arriving but then she won't receive anything for four to five days.

She says after missing important mail like Social Security notices for her children and credit card bills, she filed a claim through the app.

But she says she's received no response from the Post Office.

"They're supposed to call you back or send you an email but I still haven't received anything about it," she told 12News.

12news reached out to the U.S. Postal Service about her complaint and they released a statement saying, in part...

"The Postal Service appreciates its customers and always strives to provide the best possible service to them. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been experienced by customers living in the Groves and Port Arthur communities. In both instances, local management has been made aware and is taking steps to address these concerns."

Billingsley says that she hopes that the Post Office will work on the problem so others aren't missing important payments or notices.

The Postal Service says you should also contact your local sender to let them know you've been missing mail.
