A Vidor man is charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal auto-pedestrian collision Monday night.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by 12News, Christopher David Morgan, 31, of Vidor, is charged in the death of Shane Harold Rollins, 41, also of Vidor.

DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis told 12News the accident happened at 10:07 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Concord just north of Vidor. Davis said Morgan was driving a 1997 Chevy pickup along Concord and veered off of the roadway for an unknown reason. He struck Rollins with the truck.

The probable cause affidavit says the responding trooper could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the truck. He said Morgan had slurred speech and red eyes. The trooper said Morgan admitted to drinking four small mason jars of White Zinfandel wine.

Morgan was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries; then he was taken to the Orange County jail.

Bond was set at $30,000.
