Reminders from Christus health at the end of National Health Month

Christus Health sends out an important reminder after many spent the week indulging on the deep fried delights of the South Texas State Fair.

BEAUMONT, Texas — As we reach the end of March we are also wrapping up National Health Month.

With this in mind, Christus Health sends out an important reminder after many spent the week indulging on the deep fried delights of the South Texas State Fair.

Christus Health says that it is important to try to limit fried salty and sugary foods, and instead go for lean proteins and vegetables.

As they recognize the importance of embracing and maintaining a healthy diet to reduce the risk to long term health.

Christus St. Elizabeth Dietician Angelica Figueroa has dealt with type 1 diabetes since she was a child, causing her to make nutrition a life-long passion.

"Cutting stuff out cold turkey doesn't work for people," said Figueroa. "Maybe you're addicted to something like soda, cut it in half! You're drinking six a day, cut it in half and do three a day, get used to that then cut that in half and do one-and-a-half a day. Find what works best for you!"
