West Hardin CCISD cancels school due to rise in flu cases

The rise in flu cases prompted the closure.

HARDIN, Texas — West Hardin CCISD has cancelled school for the remainder of the week for deep cleaning after a rise in confirmed flu cases.

The school said in a Facebook post that the time should allow the flu to 'run its course' in those who have it and the closure will allow the time students would have spent in confined spaces at school and will reduce the risk of exposing those who aren't affected.

The closure has been made to reduce the risk of exposure for those who aren't affected and will allow deep cleaning over the weekend according to the post.

The school encourages parents to make sure students are fever free, without fever reducing medication, for 24 hours before letting them return to school.

School will resume on Monday, March 25.
