Weather may have been a factor in a Jasper County wreck that killed two Jasper men Thursday morning according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The DPS received a report of a two-vehicle crash at about 8:40 a.m. on Highway 63 just west of RR255 according to DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis.

A Toyota pick-up truck driven by Jeffery Kiser, 23, of Jasper, was traveling northbound on Highway 63 when it crossed the center line into oncoming Southbound traffic and struck a Ford pick-up truck driven by John Neyland, 51, of Jasper,

Neyland was pronounced dead on the scene and a passenger in the Ford, Jerry Herrin , 38, of Jasper, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Troopers suspect that because of the weather Kiser's Toyota truck may have hydroplaned before striking the Ford truck according to Davis.

The investigation will continue.
