PORT ARTHUR, Texas — An autopsy was performed Tuesday on the body of a man who was murdered before Port Arthur Police could arrest him in connection with a shooting and a carjacking.

Preliminary autopsy results show that Javier Palacios, 22, died from multiple gunshot wounds according to a Port Arthur Police spokesperson

Palacios was found Monday about 4 p.m. not far from where police say he was involved in a March shooting in the 1200 block of Delaware.

Port Arthur Police had been looking for Palacios for about two weeks in connection with the shooting on March 20 as well as a carjacking in another city.

They say they were not only looking for him to bring in as a suspect but also for his own safety.

Palacios was affiliated with the "Surenos 13" gang and was also wanted on three outstanding warrants police said.
