2 out-of-state residents arrested after leading Beaumont Police on car, foot chase

Tory Willis, 19, of Duson, Louisiana and Anthony Curtis, 20, of Corona, California led Beaumont Police on a chase in a car reported stolen out of Louisiana.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Two out-of-state residents were arrested after leading Beaumont Police on a car and foot chase Wednesday afternoon.

On Dec. 20, 2023 at 3:25 p.m., Beaumont Police officers working on IH-10 near Major Dr. initiated a traffic stop due for a traffic violation, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Officers briefly lost sight of the vehicle then found it abandoned near the intersection of the Cardinal Dr. service road near Executive Blvd. 

Officers searched the area and found the two suspects, who both ran away through a neighborhood east of Executive Blvd. before being arrested, according to the release.

Investigation revealed that while the suspects were escaping police, they threw away bag containing electronic criminal instruments used to commit auto thefts.

The vehicle they were driving was reported stolen from Louisiana and a gun was found inside, according to the release.

After being interviewed, suspects Tory Willis, 19, of Duson, Louisiana and Anthony Curtis, 20, of Corona, California were booked into the Jefferson County Jail  were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. 

Willis and Curtis were charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest/detention in a motor vehicle, evading arrest/detention on foot, unlawfully carrying a weapon and unlawful use of criminal instrument.
