Stab wound named as cause of death for man whose body was found near Port Arthur Walmart

Lachrisha Abshire is held on a $1 million bond on a murder charge in connection with the death of Taylor Rodriguez

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Investigators say they now know what caused the death of Taylor Rodriguez, whose body was found on May 13. 

Detective Mike Hebert with Port Arthur Police Department told 12News the 23-year-old man died due to a stab wound in his thigh. 

Jail records say Lachrisha Abshire, 33, is held on a $1 million bond for murder. She was arrested on Wednesday after the victim's body was found near a Walmart store in a wooded area. 

Rodriguez's body was found in a patch of woods behind Precision Tune Auto care in the 4900 block of Twin City Highway, according to Guedry. 

Port Arthur Police Detective Sadie Guedry said a 911 call was made about an unresponsive body just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 13.
