NEWTON, Texas — Five Beaumont men are behind bars in Newton after being arrested in connection with a home invasion style robbery last week.

The five men are accused of breaking in to a woman's home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in Newton and firing shots according to Newton Police Chief Will Jackson.

The men arrested are Jaqorian Oshae Bourgeois, 23, of Beaumont, Steven Jacoby Bourgeois, Sr., 40, of Beaumont, Charles Edward Barlow, 19, of Beaumont, Brian Keith Harris, 32, of Beaumont and Terry Lee Harris, 38, of Beaumont.

Police say they believe the men may have thought no one was home and were surprised by the resident.

When the suspects encountered the woman they fired shots at her before fleeing on Wednesday morning according to Jackson.

The five suspects fled in a 2010 Dodge pick up truck. Officers spotted the truck and it tried to flee, but pulled over and the men ran from the truck.

All but one was arrested there, another was later found and arrested.

The suspects are each charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Robbery.
