Beaumont Police investigate after clerk assaulted during armed robbery early Monday morning

The Exxpress Mart on the southwest corner of Cardinal Drive and MLK Parkway was robbed early Monday morning.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Police are investigating an early Monday morning after a clerk was assaulted during the armed robbery of a Beaumont convenience store.

Beaumont Police officers responded to panic alarm at the Exxpress Mart convenience store at 1755 E. Cardinal Dr. at 3:16 a.m. according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

When officers arrived they learned that three suspects had been involved in the robbery.

While one male suspect waited outside while two other male suspects entered the store.

Once inside the store at least one suspect brandished a handgun as the two demanded cash from the clerk.

The clerk, who was assaulted by the pair, opened the register drawer and the two stole cash and cigarettes before running away from the scene according to the release.

All three of the suspects ran north along MLK Parkway toward the apartments just north of the store the release said.

One of the suspects who entered the store is described as a black male about 5'4" to 5'6" tall with a light complexion and a thin build. 

He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants police said.

The second suspect who entered the store was described as a black male about 5'6" to 5'7" tall with a light complexion and a thin build.

He was wearing a gray camouflage shirt, black pants and was armed with a black handgun police said.

The third suspect, who stayed outside of the store, was described by police as being a black male wearing gray clothing though his approximate height or weight is unknown.
