Beaumont police are investigating a shooting that left a 29-year-old father of 3 dead

Before collapsing he mentioned to witnesses that he had been shot at The Regent apartments which is less than a mile away from the gas station he was found at.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont father of three was fatally shot early Sunday morning.

Oran Trahan, 29, of Beaumont, walked into the Chevron gas station at 1610 I-10 Frontage Rd at 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning suffering from a gunshot wound according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

Before he collapsed in the convenience store, at Interstate 10 and Gulf St., he mentioned to witnesses that he had been shot at The Regent apartments police said.

Trahan was taken by ambulance to a Christus St Elizabeth Hospital where he later died police said.

The apartment complex at 1715 Maime is less than a mile south of the convenience store, The Place.

Trahan arrived at the convenience store with his three children in a car with him, according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr.

The children's mother came to the convenience store and picked up the children, police said.

Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and are in the early stages of their investigation.
