Beaumont Police, Lamar Police searching for two suspects after a robbery Monday evening

On March 25, 2024 around 4:49 pm., Lamar University Police Department officers responded to the Student Health Center where a victim reported that a robbery.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after a Lamar University reported a victim of a robbery on Monday.

On March 25, 2024 around 4:49 pm., Lamar University Police Department officers responded to the Student Health Center where a victim reported that a robbery had taken place about an hour before.

The robbery happened in the 5000 block of Cochran, the neighborhood near Lamar Baptist Church, according to LUPD.

The victim was hit in the abdomen.

The suspects were described by the victim as two men. One suspect was described as heavy set with short, curled hair and wearing a red shirt. The other was smaller, had short hair, and was wearing a black t-shirt.

Beaumont Police will be handling the investigation and LUPD is assisting.

LUPD is heavily patrolling the area, according to LUTV.

LUTV shared these safety tips on their Facebook:

  • Call LUPD immediately if you see individuals matching the description above on campus. 
  • Do not approach these individuals if seen on campus. 
  • Look around and be aware of your surroundings. 
  • Call LUPD if you feel you need a safety escort. 
  • Travel in large groups at night–do not travel alone.
