'This one's gone hurt' | Beaumont family wants justice for father who was shot, killed in his car with three children in the back seat

Oran Trahan's family members remember him as the anchor of their family.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A family is left heartbroken after a young Beaumont father was shot and killed early Sunday morning.

Oran Trahan, 29, was gunned down in the old Fair Grounds parking lot with three of his children in the back seat of his car.

Now Trahan's family is asking for the community's support as they seek justice.

"It's going to take a while but I'm asking right now for my family, his family, we don't want revenge. We want justice," said Paula Wheaton, his sister.

Trahan's family members remember him as the anchor of their family.

"He was just the life of the party, the event, anywhere. He knew how to get people to interact, talk, have fun," said Trahan's cousin, Alexis Williams.

Trahan is a father of ten. His oldest daughter just turned 13 on April 4, only three days before her father was killed.

"He was a father and a good one. When you see them, you see six or nine of them," said Rhonda Landry, a cousin of Trahan.

Trahan was shot and killed in the old fair grounds parking lot on Gulf Street with 3 of his children, ages 3, 2, and 1, in the back seat.

"His kids are asking for him right now," Wheaton said.

Beaumont Police say Trahan managed to drive to The Place convenience store, less than a mile away from the old fair grounds. Once there he walked inside the store and collapsed.

"Not only did they take him away from his kids. They took him away from his family," Williams said.

His loved ones are left behind to cherish their memories of Trahan and spend birthdays and family reunions without him.

"If Oran knows you, he will ruffle your feathers, he likes to bother you, pick, just because," said Williams. "So this one's gone hurt."

Investigators continue to search for answers. Until then the family is asking for the community's support on GoFundMe.

"His dream was that all these kids was better than him. Stay in school, get your education, graduate," Landry said.

This is an ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made at this time.
