SILSBEE — Silsbee Police responded to an attempted robbery call at the Tejas (Tigerland) Quik Stop located at 1175 Highway 418 on Wednesday around 11:12 a.m.
The clerk said a man with dreadlocks came into the store wearing a dark hoodie, one pink glove and one off-white glove, according to Chief Waylan Rhodes. The clerk said the man had a knife and demanded money.
The suspect reached across the counter and tried to open the cash register when the clerk told another employee to go get his gun according to the clerk. The suspect then ran out of the store into a wooded area prior to Silsbee police officers arriving on the scene, according to Rhodes.
Silsbee Police conducted a search of the immediate and surrounding area and were unable to find the suspect according to Rhodes. Store video captured the attempted robbery, but there is no clear identity of the suspect.
