BEAUMONT, Texas — Vanessa Guerrero is a visual storyteller at 12News specializing in general news.

She joined the team in June 2022.

Guerrero is a Southeast Texas native who graduated from Nederland High School before earning her bachelor's degree in broadcasting from Lamar University in May 2022.

During her time at Lamar she was involved with the campus news station LUTV where she worked as a reporter and anchor.

She also worked with Lamar's SETCAST program which covers more than 175 governmental meetings for the Southeast Texas Regional Council of Governments.

At SETCAST she helped record Port Arthur Planning and Zoning meetings and Port Arthur ISD board meetings so they could air on local cable systems in Southeast Texas.

In her free time Guerrero enjoys working on short films in multiple capacities such as acting, writing, costuming and other jobs on the crew.

She says she has a borderline unhealthy obsession with all things Jim Henson like the Muppets, Fraggle Rock, The Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.

Guerrero also loves the "horror genre" and enjoys watching scary movies to pass the time. One of her faves is the Child's Play series featuring "Chucky."
