BEAUMONT, Texas — Brandon Roddy is the sports director at 12News in Beaumont, Tx, specializing in sports reporting and anchoring sports.

Roddy joined the 12News team in October 2023 and will be anchoring sports in the weekday newscasts at 10 p.m.

Roddy was raised in Peoria, IL, but says he has been visiting San Antonio to visit family for his entire life.

He spent a dozen years as a sports reporter, morning lifestyle co-host, photographer and editor at our sister station, KENS, in San Antonio.

For a time he also was an emcee with the San Antonio Missions AA minor league baseball team where he helped entertain crowds of 6,500 or more at Nelson Wolff Stadium. He also ran games, conducted interviews and promos for the team.

Roddy attended Ole Miss on a football scholarship as a defensive lineman on the same team as Eli Manning and later transferred to Murray State University in Kentucky.

He continued to play football there, this time as a tight end and in 2006 earned his bachelor's degree in mass communication.

In high school Roddy played football, baseball, basketball, ran track and once played in an all-star basketball game coached by Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson.

When he's not working Roddy enjoys music, reading, gaming, strength training  and all things sports. He's also visited the Great Wall of China.
