A spokesperson for The Beaumont Police Department Friday told 12News that seven people were arrested Thursday in a prostitution sting.

Officer Joe Ornelas said six men and one woman were taken in custody. Ornelas said the bust happened at at least one Beaumont hotel, but would not say whether it was just one hotel or more.

12News has confirmed that one of those arrested was the top law enforcement officer for the City of Rose Hill Acres.

Erik Tolpo, 46, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tolpo's bond was set at $250. He bonded out around midnight.

Tolpo is the city marshal for the City of Rose Hill Acres, which is in south Hardin County between Lumberton and Beaumont.

Tolpo is also a civilian employee of the Department of Public Safety Regulatory Services Division in Houston. He has worked for the DPS since January 2011.

A DPS spokesperson told 12News that disciplinary action is pending.
