Man sentenced for shooting death at Beaumont hotel

A Wisconsin man has been sentenced for shooting a gun inside a hotel room, an action that caused the death of a person in the adjacent room back in September 2010.

A Wisconsin man has been sentenced for shooting a gun inside a hotel room, an action that caused the death of a person in the adjacent room back in September 2010.

Lance Robert Mueller, 50, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin was sentenced to ten years in prison.

The night of the shooting, Gregory Joseph Fleniken, of Lafayette Louisiana, was staying in the adjoining room at the MCM Elegante Hotel. He was struck and killed by the bullet which went through the wall between the two rooms. Mueller was arrested following a review of surveillance video and several interviews.

Mueller later entered a plea of no contest to reckless manslaughter and criminally negligent manslaughter . He was sentenced Monday morning before Judge Layne Walker.
