Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced today that Daniel Adam Billingsley, 37, was found guilty by a jury on three cases of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child on July 13, 2018. Billingsley elected for the Court to assess punishment, and Judge Larry Gist sentenced Billingsley to 50 years in the Institutional Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Judge Gist ordered for two of the cases to run concurrent and for the third case to run consecutive, resulting in a 100-year sentence.

On December 14, 2016, a 10-year-old female made an outcry to her mother that Billingsley had been molesting her. Over a period of several months, Billingsley escalated the abuse. The victim told her mom that the abuse had been happening in Beaumont and Louisiana.

The mother immediately notified law enforcement and met with Officer Champagne from the Beaumont Police Department. Officer Champagne instructed the mother to take the victim to St. Elizabeth Hospital to have a forensic exam performed, and he accompanied them to the hospital that night. The victim was later interviewed at the Garth House. Throughout the investigation, the victim gave consistent details about what happened. Billingsley was interviewed by an investigator with Child Protective Services.

The case was investigated by Detective Staci Landor with the Beaumont Police Department and prosecuted by Special Crimes Chief Kimberly Hobbs Pipkin. Pipkin said, “This case is one more example of the teamwork it takes for us to prosecute these cases. Our entire team – from law enforcement, to the Garth House, to CPS, to the SANE nurse – all came together to ensure that justice was done on behalf of this victim and her family. We have an excellent team of people dedicated to protecting children from sexual abuse.”

Billingsley must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
