SCHOOLS: Some Southeast Texas districts head back to campus Thursday, some stay virtual

Southeast Texas is under a flash flood watch through Thursday.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Several school districts in the area have announced late starts or virtual learning due to the chance of more rain on Wednesday.

Here's a list of closures or delays we know about at this time...

  • Beaumont ISD
    • Return to on-campus Thursday.
    • Delay start of class for Fletcher and MLK until 10 a.m. due to power outages. Buses will run at 9 a.m. to transport students to both campuses.
  • Beaumont Classical Academy
    • Switching to virtual learning Wednesday, May 19 for all students and staff.  
  • Bridge City ISD
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Wednesday.
  • Burkeville ISD
    • Return to on-campus Thursday.
  • Buna ISD 
    • Buna ISD will be back in school Thursday at the normal start time. 
  • Deweyville ISD
    • Elementary students will meet virtually all week. Junior and high school students will continue face-to-face classes.
  • Evadale ISD
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Tuesday.
  • Hamshire-Fannet ISD
    • Continue virtual learning Thursday.
  • Hardin-Jefferson ISD
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Wednesday.
  • Hull-Daisetta ISD
    • Return to on-campus Thursday.
  • Jasper ISD
    • On-campus classes set to start at normal times on Thursday.
  • Kirbyville ISD 
    • Classes will resume on Thursday.
  • Kountze ISD
    • Regular schedule on Thursday and previously scheduled noon release Friday.
  • Lamar State College Port Arthur
    • Plans are to reopen campus for business as usual at 7:30 a.m. Thursday
  • Little Cypress-Mauriceville
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Wednesday.
  • Lumberton ISD
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Wednesday.
  • Newton ISD
    • Classes for Thursday and Friday will be virtual. Return to campus Monday.
  • Port Arthur ISD
    • Campuses reopen Thursday. 
  • Sabine Pass ISD
    • Classes will meet virtually on Wednesday.
  • Silsbee ISD 
    • Classes set to start at normal times on Wednesday.
  • Spurger ISD
    • Spurger ISD will begin school at 10 a.m. on Wednesday May 19. Buses will run between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. in the morning. 
  • Warren ISD
    • Return to on-campus Thursday.
  • West Hardin CCISD
    • Return to on-campus Thursday.
  • West Orange-Cove CISD
    • Closed for the remainder of the week. All planned campus events will be rescheduled. Classes will resume on Monday, May 24.
  • Woodville ISD
    • The district will move to remote learning for the remainder of the week.
