New timeline | Flood watch remains but threat for heavy rain diminishing; here's what to expect

The heaviest of the rain is expected to move in around sunrise and leave the area before noon

BEAUMONT, Texas — Southeast Texas is under another flood threat this weekend.

A flash flood watch has been issued for all of Southeast Texas including Hardin, Jefferson, Jasper, Newton, Orange and Tyler Co.

A slow moving upper level low pressure system meandering across Texas will pull extremely moist air from the Gulf into Southeast Texas Friday night into Saturday morning.

As the system nears Southeast Texas a line of showers and thunderstorms will develop  and spread eastward into the area early Saturday morning.

The 12News StormTrackers have adjusted their forecast -- the system is now expected earlier and is forecast to move through quicker.

5:30 a.m.: The cold front will be over Beaumont and the Golden Triangle. Heavy rain is expected at this time. Hardin, Jasper and Newton Co. could also see bands of heavy rain. The storms blow east to Louisiana after 6 a.m. and clear the area, and with them goes the heavy rain threat for the weekend.

SUNDAY: The upper-level low will move out of the area. The counter-clockwise circulation around the low to our east will drag a drier air mass into the area Monday through Wednesday of next week.  This will cut the rain chances, bring cooler overnight low temperatures with warm, dry conditions in the afternoon hours with abundant sunshine.
