Tropical Depression 17, winds winds of 35 mph, could briefly become a storm before reaching the Louisiana Coast tonight.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Tropical Depression 17 formed this morning about 500 miles to the south-southwest of Lake Charles, La.  The system is moving north-northeast at 16 mph.  The system is being steered by a cold front and is expected to ride along it into Acadiana overnight/Saturday Morning.
