Third Imelda victim found inside car in canal near I-10 and Walden Road

Rescue teams found the car as water levels receded Friday morning, the City of Beaumont said.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man found in his car near I-10 and Walden Road is Imelda's third confirmed victim. 

Texas Task Force 1 found Malcom Foster, 47, in a 2008 Toyota Prius in a canal Friday morning, Sept. 20. Rescue teams found the car in the 3800 block of I-10 south near Walden Road after water levels receded, the City of Beaumont said in a news release. 

The two other deaths reported to date are a Jefferson County man who was electrocuted while moving his horse in floodwaters and a man who died in a flooded vehicle in north Houston. 

Texas Task Force 1 is a part of the City of Beaumont’s Emergency Operations Center rescue team and works directly with the city's command center, Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley said in a news release. 

His family was notified about his death.
