Shelters for Southeast Texas residents evacuating Imelda floodwaters

Here's a list of shelters where residents can seek help.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas —

Some shelters are filling up across Southeast Texas as people are fleeing Imelda's flooding. 

Here's a list of shelters where residents can still seek help as of 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. 

JEFFERSON COUNTY

  • Hamshire Baptist Church in Hamshire, TX
  • China City Hall in China, TX
  • Grace Community Baptist Church – 22044 Burrell-Wingate Road, Beaumont TX

ORANGE COUNTY

  • There are 90 people staying at the North Orange Baptist Church's shelter. Its capacity is 100 people. 
  • There are 117 people at the Emergency Command Center shelter on FM 1442 (Expo Center). It remains open at this time.

CHAMBERS COUNTY

  • White’s Park Community Center – 222 White’s Park Rd #220 in Wallisville, TX
  • McLeod Park Community Center – 10717 Langston Drive in Baytown, TX
  • White Park Community Building – 225 White Park Drive in Anahuac, TX

HARDIN COUNTY

  • YYAFA – 170 HWY 418 in Silsbee, TX
