BEAUMONT, Texas — On the corner of 6th Street and Austin Avenue in downtown Port Arthur, Hilton Kelley, owner of Kelley’s Kitchen has been preparing for his comeback.
"We do the red beans and rice. We do shrimp creole sauce, gumbo. You name it and we have it here at Kelley's Kitchen," Kelley said.
Kelley’s Kitchen is one of many businesses that had to temporarily close after Harvey. It originally opened in 2009, and is now almost ready to go back in business.
“We're really excited about opening back up. I've been having a lot of my friends calling me saying, man, look here I miss my mustard greens, I miss my red beans and rice and miss my gumbo. When are you guys going to open?” Kelley said.
Kelley says what makes the reopening more special this time around is the Motiva redevelopment project that may be coming close by to the restaurant.

"It's going to bring a lot of business. When they start the reconstruction of the buildings those workers are more than likely going to come here, it's only a block away. So we're real excited about the potential customers and introducing people to our culture and to our food," Kelley said.
