CAMERON PARISH, La. — A voluntary evacuation order has been issued for all areas below the Intracoastal Waterway in Cameron Parish, according to the Cameron Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The voluntary evacuation comes as Tropical Storm Barry forms in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to make landfall in Louisiana Saturday.
Southwest Louisiana is bracing for heavy rain, flash flooding, downed trees and power outages as Tropical Storm Barry makes landfall. These conditions are likely to continue through Monday.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is also monitoring conditions for the Black Bayou Bridge and Grand Lake Bridge in Lake Charles. LADOTD will follow the U.S. Coast Guard approved protocol for movable bridges on the Intracoastal Waterway, according to the Cameron parish OEP.
