Heat advisory continues through Friday evening in Southeast Texas

BEAUMONT, Texas — Hot temperatures and high humidity across Southeast Texas Friday afternoon could be dangerous for some.

The combination of above-normal temperatures and high humidity values will combine to produce dangerous heat indices across Southeast Texas from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. 

Heat index values will likely be above 100° from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., with the highest values from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Chances are that it will feel like it is 105° to 110° during this time frame.

High pressure in the middle layers is the responsible culprit for this weather pattern.

Some precautions especially if you work outdoors are to keep hydrated, take frequent breaks and wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.  

Otherwise, use air conditioning, limit strenuous activity and try to reschedule work for this evening, ensure pets have access to water, check in on the elderly and remember to check the back seat.
